How to Monogram a Bible With Siser HTV

0

It was time to replace my trusty Bible from college, but I wanted to personalize it to me. Leather-bound Bibles can be easily engraved with a gold foil look, but what about the cloth-over-board-bound ones that are popular now? Easy. I busted out my Siser Heat Transfer Vinyl and home iron, and a personalized Bible was made.

Items Needed:

  • Cloth over board Bible. I used an ESV Journaling Bible in Flowers. Buy it here.
  • Silhouette Cameo 3. Available here.
  • Siser EasyWeed Heat Transfer Vinyl. Buy it here.
  • Siser Glitter Heat Transfer Vinyl. Buy it here.
  • Home Iron.

Set up the Monogram in Your Silhouette Software

  1. Type out the monogram in your workspace and change it to your monogram font. Vine Monogram is used here.Monogram in Silhouette Studio
  2. Go to the Modify Panel and choose weld to get rid of the overlapping lines.
  3. Select your monogram and go to the offset panel. Click on offset and put in a distance of .10.Offset in Silhouette Studio
  4. Press apply.
  5. Resize your design to your desired size and flip horizontally to cut.
If you are using decal vinyl, do not flip your design.
  6. Cut out your monogram.

Apply

  1. Place your EasyWeed offset (the second color you made) down on the Bible first.
  2. Cover your transfer with a cover sheet (I used parchment paper) and press your iron down with firm pressure for a few seconds.
  3. Lift the carrier sheet from the vinyl.
  4. Place the Siser Glitter monogram on top of the EasyWeed.
  5. Cover and press down with firm pressure for a couple seconds.
  6. Lift the carrier sheet from the vinyl.
  7. Inspect the monogram to ensure that the vinyl has adhered well. If there are sections lifting, press again for a couple seconds with your iron.
  8. Place your book upside down and lay something heavy on it while it cools. This prevents the cover of the book from curving due to the heat.

There you have it! A custom monogrammed Bible that is beautiful and easy to make. This is the perfect craft to do in your church group or to make as a wedding or graduation gift. Check out the video below to view the entire process.
